Sports Performance
Denise Keenan

Denise is a certified hypnotherapist and a certified breath facilitator.  She's traveled extensively in search of methods of enhancing performance and healing that are effective, non-invasive and threat free.  She's trained in yoga and martial arts, trance dance and other movement techniques, as well as a wide variety of holistic therapies.  Denise offers a rare combination of intuition, strength and humor and her work is a reflection of her honor for life and the inner space that supports it. She coined the term 'hypnobreath' that describes a process which combines hypnosis and breathing techniques to improve athletic performance. Denise emphasizes the value of integrating physical training, mental prowess, and breath synchronicity. These define the meaning of sports performance. If any are substandard, then performance is marginalized.

Denise is considered a Master of Breath Facilitation. Breath control is a critical skill to improving one's overall performance level. The breath has a natural rhythm that can be integrated into kinetic motions required in sports. Most athletes are totally unaware of how breath patterns affect their performance.
River Kaster

River received his Ph.D. in biology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Currently, he is a scientist at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. His sports interests focus on integrative science as a means of understanding the interrelation of the mind/body connection to enhance performance, especially under stress situations. He takes the science underpinning and applies it pragmatically to improve performance. The foundation of River's teaching is that a fundamental science knowledge of 'how things work' can greatly impact performance decisions. The "sweet spot" experience can be sustained over a longer period by understanding the basis behind the feeling. River was recently named a Scholar in Learning and Teaching.

Dr. Kaster has been involved with coupling holistic and science principles for 15 years. He has taught courses dealing with human reproduction and physiology, human anatomy, and comparative anatomy. He has studied what's known as 'personal ecology' (interrelations of the internal and external environments), and psychogenesis (origin and development of the mind). Denise and River have presented innumerable professional seminars  and trainings in sports performance, hypnosis, breath facilitation, sports physiology, interfacing mind and action to produce outcome, sensory interpretation, neural/muscle/response. Their presentations are always well received and create an atmosphere of esprit de corps, inspiration and enthusiasm, while providing the grittiness necessary to accomplish the business end of sports performance.
